General Care

HANDLE WITH THOUGHT
Avoid overfilling your bag to maintain its shape and structure.

STORE SMARTLY
Keep your bag in its original dust bag, in an upright position, away from direct sunlight and humidity.

ROTATE REGULARLY
Like any wearable object, rest prolongs life. Avoid prolonged daily use of the same bag.

SURFACE PROTECTION
Keep your bag away from abrasive surfaces and avoid contact with rough materials that may cause scratches.

Leather Care

MAKETTE bags are crafted from premium European leathers chosen for their tactile quality and enduring performance. Natural variations, veins, and tonal shifts are inherent to the material and considered part of the bag's character.

CLEAN GENTLY
Use a soft, dry cloth to remove dust or light surface marks. For deeper cleans, use a slightly damp cloth with no soap.

CONDITION OCCASIONALLY
A neutral leather cream can be applied sparingly every 6–12 months. Test on a discreet area first.

AVOID MOISTURE
If your bag becomes wet, pat dry immediately with a soft cloth. Never use heat to dry.

Interior Care

LINING
Our linings are made from carefully selected fabrics and suede-like materials. Avoid carrying pens, cosmetics, or liquids without protective pouches.

DUST & PARTICLES
Gently shake out or use a lint roller to remove interior debris. Avoid vacuum cleaners.

Colour Transfers & External Agents

BE AWARE OF TRANSFER
Light-colored bags may absorb dyes from darker clothing. Conversely, some bag finishes may mark porous garments.

AVOID SOLVENTS
Oils, creams, perfumes, and alcohol-based solutions can affect leather texture and tone.

Hardware

FINISH MATTERS
Hardware is custom-designed and may feature plated finishes. Avoid direct contact with alcohol, perfume, or sanitizers.

POLISH WITH CARE
A soft microfiber cloth can help restore shine. Do not use chemical cleaners or polishes.

STORAGE

SHAPE PRESERVATION
Fill your bag with tissue or soft fabric to maintain structure.

AVOID PLASTIC
Never store in plastic bags or containers. Opt for breathable dust bags—store in the MAKETTE dust bag provided with your purchase. All MAKETTE bags come with their own box and dust bag.

LONG TERM REST
Air your bag occasionally, especially in humid climates, to prevent mildew.
